REIKI COURSE FREE Lesson 2

REMEMBER: The Reiki treatment is safe in any situation, independently of the cause of the malaise, but it is not a substitute of the professional medical care. Reiki can easily be combined with the orthodox medicine, as well as the alternative healing or the methods of relaxation. It is already hour of which the orthodox and alternative methods of healing work jointly instead of competing to each other.

The Reiki system is divided in three or, in some cases, four levels that are like construction blocks. An individual does not have to complete curriculum completes. In truth, much people around the world have learned as soon as the first or both initial levels. Nevertheless, the sequence of the levels must be followed. Each Level is completed in if same. The chapter "Levels offers more information on this topic.

The Reiki understanding in its totality is an interminable process. To read one or two books and to join information will not be sufficient. Reiki cannot be described appropriately, nor its effects in one can be determined by a book guides. However, while one alive one will experience a continuous personal growth. The best thing than can become is to go with the current and to trust that the same life will make rain its blessings on one. The rest is the personal mystery of each individual.

When speaking on "energy" and metaphysics, very premeditatedly I have abstained to try to explain the inexplicable thing scientifically. The attempt of scientific demystification is hardly another trick of (tiny) the rational part of our mind to maintain its supremacy like unique conductor of our lives. The existence is and will continue being always a mystery, and must be celebrated in such terms.

In this spirit, I wish all the best one you than the life must to offer, whichever it is the meaning of it for you. I hope that benefits this course and that serves to you as inspiration.

We continued approaching us the history of the Reiki, now of a demystification and natural form but.

Reiki History

Generally speaking, there are five slopes different from the Chinese Qigong that have traveled by the world. All is original or of the taoism, the buddhism or the confucianism, and they are divided in active, active/passive style, and liabilities. In the Chinese terminology they are called style yin, yin/yang and yang. Yin talks about to our passive, feminine aspects and to those of the surroundings, like the moon. The Chinese sign for yin means "the shady side", and the sign yang means "the luminous side". Yang talks about to our masculine aspects and those of our surroundings, like the sun

The current but common of the Qigong as much in East than the West is probably the ample range of martial arts that use physical exercises mainly to fortify the body and the mind in order to return them resistant in the case from a physical or moral attack. Also they have served like phisycs exercises of the monks who pass the best parts of their lives meditating and not paying sufficient attention to him to their bodies.

The second category consists strictly of the medical exercises Qigong (Chi kung), that are very common in China and also recently they have become very popular in Japan. They are applied to fight the disease and to return to the vastly healthful medical instructor by means of the accumulation of vital energy in the low abdomen. Like in the martial arts, the exercises of the medical Qigong belong to the currents yang.

The confucian Qigong belongs to the slope yin and mainly aims to calm the mind, doing it receptive to the moral wisdom. The exercises of the Taoist Qigong are simultaneously active and passive, and use a vast range of respiratory exercises, internal massage, physical visualizations and exercises in order to help to that the medical instructor restores the perfect balance of body, mind and soul.

The exercises of the Buddhist Qigong belong to the current yin because its main center resides in the expansion of the internal conscience. The physical balance is a welcome by-product, but it does not constitute the main goal. Some tibetans Buddhist Qigong techniques help the medical instructors to exercise their bodies by means of the visualization. They do not have to move absolutely!

As much the Taoists Qigong exercises, like the Buddhists, also aim to fortify the body in order to help the medical instructor to physically survive the spiritual illumination, that can be a very overwhelming experience. Hindu santo Ramana Maharshi compared to the illumination with "an elephant that tries to enter a small cabin of bamboo".

Reiki is one of the Buddhist sprouts of the Qigong with the aggregate of a Shintoism influence. He was rediscover by Mr. Mikao Usui de Kioto, Japan, towards end of century 19. He was he who denominated "Rei~Ki). (equivalent sound for the "R" in Japanese does not exist. Lei-Ki is pronounced). In Japanese, the graffism Rei' indicates santo, spirit, mystery, gift, natural spirit or invisible spirit, and the graffism ki means energy, natural scene, talent and feeling. Usually, Reiki is translated like "universal vital energy". Although Mr. Usui was not a doctor in the conventional sense of the term, I will talk about to him like doctor Usui since he were a doctor in the real sense of the word, means, the work of its life was to heal to the body and the mind of other people. In the old days of Japan their students called Usui-sensei, that means teacher.

The biography of doctor Usui is cloudy and is full of mysteries. Much of the call "Japanese" information that its movement outside Japan circulated on him and, was extended outside its proportions or not corroborated appropriately. Almost all the books of Reiki, maintain that doctor Usui was professor in the university Doshisha de Kioto and that later studied in the university of Chicago. Archivists of both institutions has said to us by telephone that no Mikao Usui attended some of its classes nor I teach in some of both institutes. In several books, the original movement of Reiki Usui, that is called Usui Shiki Ryoho appears like "Usui Shiko Ryoho". The Japanese word "shiki" means style, forms or system. The word "shiko" means tinkles!

Nevertheless the facts reveal that Usui-saint was honest by his good actions by Meijí emperor of Japan, but thus happened to other thousands every year.

Many sources proclaim that doctor Usui was Christian. It has not been possible to find test me some of it in his lessons. My theory is that the apparently Christian aspects of Reiki were added in the United States to make it more acceptable in Christian countries. However, according to my friend and Lynn translator Wakisaka-Evans, it is possible that doctor Usui has professed the Christianity during a brief period of his inner search. One assumes that doctor Usui worked in miserable districts, healing to the mending, a quite Christian notion.

I believe that it went to heal to victims of the great earthquake kanto that devastated Tokyo in 1923. Although it has favoured the Christianity, that does not mean that outside a Christian in the classic sense.

Until the Meiji period, Japan was had deliberately isolated of the rest of the world. Then, almost suddenly, it opened to his horizons to the western ideas the progressive intellectuals felt that to become jumbled in something foreign he was something very attractive.

The thirst of western culture has not been extinguished in Japan. Restaurants of fast meals and centers of electronic games have been constructed next to the Shinto altars and to the stores of kimonos. In the surface, it would seem that East and the West have been finally, but when observing it more carefully, we found that as soon as they are coexisting. Usually, the western ones think about Japan like the country of the Za Zen, cocoons of cherry and the cleaning. But the foreigner who enters Japan for the first time is going to experience a severe cultural shock. The fact is that the religion and, to a certain extent, the family have been replaced by the corporative society. The religiosity has become a formalists subject.

The most graceful and grotesque anecdote of the way in which East and the West have been intermingled in "religious" ceremonies in Japan was to me counted recently by a friend, Mrs. N. One of its friends, who turn out to be a Buddhist monk, invited it to its marriage. When the N. arrived at the ceremony, they found to the monk with the shaved head and dressing a white smoking in the middle of "Christian" a married ceremony. Another example that illustrates clearly the present state of the things: Recently an enormous church in our neighbourhood with the only intention was constructed to celebrate weddings But it lacks priest and congregation.

"the Japanese" religions are dealed with analogous way. Most of the contemporary Japanese families they follow the two main religions, buddhism and Shintoism, by convenience, if it is that they can allow it to it. The Japanese buddhism is not accepted like legitimate buddhism in some traditionally Buddhist countries.

Usually, each Japanese celebrates a ceremony shinto of birth, a shinto/Christian wedding, and a Buddhist funeral. That way, all the Gods are satisfied.

Officially, 0.7% of the population (1.537.725 people) adhere to the Christianity; 40,4% (89.748.700 people) to the buddhism; 53,8% (118.185.150 people) to the Shintoism; and 5.1% (11.203.425 people) to other religions. The graceful thing is that if the official numbers are added, a population of 220 million obtains itself, and Japan has only 120 million inhabitants! In truth, at least 70% of the population had to be classified like "not-nun" in the western sense of the word.

Western The Reiki Movement

Most of professors Reiki they describe to the western movement of the following way: Before dying, doctor Usui passed his knowledge to other people and named Mr. Chujiro Hayashí, commander of the imperial navy of Japan, Great Reiki Teacher with the responsibility to lead all other professors Reiki. He was he who took the Reiki from Japan to the U.S.A. when he visited Hawaii at the end of 1936 to be with one of his students, Hawayo H. Takata. Mrs. Takata was one "nikkeijin" (the Japanese term "níkkeijin" means Japanese immigrant that lives abroad) been born in the island of Hawaii, the 24 of December of 1900.

It is not known how much people received the title of Reiki Teacher of doctor Hayashí, but we know that 1938 made Reiki Masters to Takata in during his stay in Hawaii. Just before their death the 10 of May of 1941, named Great Reiki Teacher and leader of the Reiki movement to Mrs. Takata.

Mrs. Takata declared specifically that in 1941 there were alive only five Reiki Teachers under his leadership. One inquires that it, as well, had granted to 22 masters before her death the 12 of December of 1980, and that bequeathed the title of Great Teacher to its granddaughter, Phyllis Lee Furumoto.

After the death of Mrs. Takata, western the Reiki movement split in two-way traffic: the "Reiki Alliance" oriented by Phyllis Furumoto and the "Radiance Technique" directed by Mrs. Barbara Ray and been in the United States. Other branches grew from the "Reiki Alliance", as the free Reiki Teachers (our line) and the Reiki de Osho.

Japanese The Reiki Movement

Until now we have collected on two Reiki currents in Japan. First one is in Tokyo, second in the prefecture of Shízuoka, the state of Chubu. to the south of Tokyo.

At the beginning of 1993, me Chetna wife interviewed to one of the relatives of doctor Usui, the wife of her grandson, who said that his mother-in-law to us, daughter of doctor Usui, had left a clause in her testament settling down that its name never would have to be pronounced in its house! When she married, doctor Usui already had passed away. Consequently, she did not know too much of her predecessor and by the way I pronounced bothers because we appeared with that laborious wound of familiar history. Later it wrote to us saying that it was not allowed to speak him on the subject and it requested to us that we did not bother more, thing than naturally we respected. Apparently, several people had called it during those years to make questions on Reiki history. Somebody until telephoned from the foreigner, but she did not say if he were a foreigner or a Japanese citizen who lived outside Japan.

More early that year, one of our students had given the telephone number us of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai in Tokyo. The woman who took care of the telephone requested that we did not publish its name. She said that she did not want to know nothing of the Reiki "that comes from the outside of Japan" Also she mentioned that a Japanese individual had communicated with her that teaches Reiki in New York, but that had refused to be with that person. Nevertheless, amiably she shared with us the following information on doctor Usui:

Mikao Usui was born the 15 of August of 1865 in the village of Yago. that this located in the Yamgata district of the prefecture of Gifu, in the south of Japan. One married with Sadako Suzuki and it had two children. It died the 9 of March of 1926, an infarct, after recovering precedingly of other suffered two years before. It is buried in the Saihoji cemetery, Buddhist temple of the suburbs of Tokyo. Their wife and her son also were buried there. When we contacted to the temple, we verified that it is not a Zen temple, but that belongs to the main current of the buddhism.

According to we learned of the inscription of the tomb of doctor Usui, I teach Reiki to 2.000 people. There were Reiki centers and Reiki clinics in many parts of the country. The factories of doctor Usui and his main disciples were dictated according to a regular cronogram. The following information was shared with us by Mr. Tsutomu Oishi a horseman of Shizuoka city near the seventy years. It received healing sessions of Mrs. Shizuko Akirnoto in his clinic of Tokyo. It had acquired of us the level of professor Reiki and she did not have notion of which Mr. Oíshi had learned Reiki of one of the main disciples of doctor Usui, about forty years before!

The mother of Mr. Oishi had learned the call mean level (second Reiki level) when she was a girl. She often asked to him on it, but it always responded that she had promised not to debate the subject. The brother of Mr. Qishi had had polio, and her mother treated it regularly until it was healed totally.

Excited by her success, she left and she offered treatment him to all the children lowered by polio in the neighbourhood.

During the pasts thirty years, Mr. Oishi did not have more contact some with Reiki, but recently he began to think again on it. In August of 1995, she knew Mrs. Akimoto without knowledge that it was a Reiki medical instructor, and suddenly she said to him to her during one of the healing sessions: "She knows, is a natural technique of called healing Reiki". Mrs. Akimoto was made an impression, since many of us we had been investigating Reiki history during years with very few results.

In several encounter, Mr. Oishi was telling him that he knew doctor Usui and the Reiki movement in Shizuoka. Carefully, I analyzed the details of the information, and what follows it is a review of which I considered appropriate for its publication in the book. The photography of doctor Usui that we enclosed, kindly was provided by Mr. Oishi. It was taken while doctor Usui lead a factory in Shizuoka. The exact date is not known. In this point its knowledge wanted to thank for to Mr. Qishí from the bottom of my heart its generosity to him when sharing and the splendid photography of doctor Usui with all we.

Reiki history is as it follows: Once doctor Usui had mounted a business that failure. He left it not only with the load of a very great debt, but also with desire to look for something that not outside hardly material gain. Doctor Usui was used to meditating in a waterfall of the Kurama mount. A day, of foot under the cataract, had satori. The Japanese word satori cannot be translated like "illumination". Traditionally, satori means a fleeting look of a high order or a sudden understanding.

A time after that experience in the Kurama mount, doctor Usui founded the "Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai". During the time of life of doctor Usui, local the Reiki center in Shizuoka was directed by the gentleman kozo Qgawa. Mr. Ogawa used to sell scholastic uniforms and traveled from a school to another one in the prefecture of Shizuoka. When he found a young patient, he dealt it with Reiki. He was one of those rare healig that, like my Chetna wife, always know how many sessions took to heal certain disease For example, Mr. Oishi needed ten sessions for a problem the Vista. There were no well-known changes during the treatment, but once I conclude, Mr. Oishi suddenly noticed that their difficulties had been surpassed.

Doctor Usui recognized the healers talents of Mr. Ogawa and in last instance he promoted it to the highest rank of the organization. Doctor Usui and Mr. Ogawa used to give to their students of Reiki loaded crystal balls with energy. Those balls were directly placed on the ill areas of the patients, helping to the body to find their balance again. After the initiation, all the students also received a manual whom Reiki explained, described symptoms and gave directions for the treatment of diseases.

The people who attended a Reiki encounter made kneel of the Japanese traditional way, and in front of crossed her hands her chest in the position "gasho" or "namaste". Professor Reiki touched the hands crossed of the student a hand and considered his energy and its healer talent. He said himself to him to Mr. Oishi who their healing capacities were prominent. Mr. Qíshí attended several times during his youth the Reiki encounter of Mr. Ogawa. In the beginning of each meeting, Mr. Ogawa recited well high the five Reiki principles.

Finally, Mr. Ogawa opened a Reikí clinic in Shízuoka city where he distributed Reiki treatments and he initiated students. He did not have children, and when he became too old to direct the clinic, he asked to him Mr. Oishi who became position of her. Mr. Oishi stopped after listening that to heal to the others the energy of its own life would diminish.

The adoptive son of Mr. Ogawa, Mr. Fumio Ogawa, that became position of him during its oldness, still lives and talked with Mrs. Akimoto.

Doctor Usui founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (Reiki Society of the Method Usui de healing) with seat on Tokyo and he evolved like his first president. There were five presidents since then, Mr. Ushida, Mr. Taketomi, Mr. Watanabe, Mr. Wanami, and finally the lady koyama, that still follows in its position. The new members are accepted by a minimum quota of inscription.

At the time at which Mr. Ogawa learned Reiki towards years ' 40, there were forty Reiki schools scattered by Japan. The system was divided in six levels, and such used symbols that we used today.

There are evidences of used additional no symbols in Japan. The masterful symbol was not used intensively because the main center of the work was in the healing and not in the meditation. The method of healing by absence (at a distance) was called then "method by photography" and since all could not resolve removing a photo, it was reserved to those who mainly could obtain it.

Conclusion

After living in Japan during many years, always it seemed to me extremely unsuitable that the presidency of the very traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkaí was passed to which had been born and vivid in a foreign country. According to ours more recent investigations, it would seem that Mr. Hayashí was not On guard to choose the following president of the Reiki movement. Neither Mr. Oishi nor Mr. Ogawa remember the names of Mr. Hayashi, Mrs. Takata or some of the other that followed. It seems that at some moment of the itinerary, East and the West they followed courses separated. Today, the Reiki world is in eddy state. A school does not accept to the genuine or original other like, and the situation between diverse professors Reiki of North America and pretty Europe with the war. As if Reiki could sometimes belong to a country, a school, a concept, Or at least to an individual!

I am both between worlds, in tries of an essence. In which specifically it concerns to me, everything is ONE. I believe that at this moment of the time and the space, a way to think egocentric and sectarian can only lead to the disaster.

We could destroy everything what is beautiful in the life, including the Reiki, given our mental narrowness.

An ego that tries to be greater and better than the following one, always tried to emphasize the difference.

In order to remember the unicity of the universe with all his flowers and thorns to us, I would like to mention the beginning of the Isha Upanishad:

In order to remember

The Reiki handles a Universal energy (Divine) Positive and nonConscientious in if same, healing vehicle and Freedom, That does not depend on masterful people nor, who are not produced nor had by us but single canalizada.El Reiki handles a Universal energy (Divine) Positive and nonConscientious in if same, vehicle of healing and Freedom, That does not depend on masterful people nor, who are not produced nor had by canalized single us but.

Remember that still they lack several lessons, does not establish prejudices.
